Great for real estate newbies!
By Greg Hatcher
The author seems to have a lot of real life experience in real estate, and has apparently learned some lessons the hard way (which is sometimes the best teacher). I found this book to be a fairly quick read, although mostly review for someone who has been in the real estate business for awhile. The info does serve as a guideline of sound principles and practices that are good to have starting out. For anyone curious about how to get involved with real estate as an income stream, this book is one to consider!

Their story began five years ago. Callie fell madly, crazily in love with Zahir. But the war in his country was raging and nurturing their relationship was tenuous at best. When Callie was captured, the experience was terrifying. Zahir found and rescued her, but he knew it would be impossible to insulate her from danger in his country. Despite his wishes to be together, he knew that to keep her safe he must send her away. However, he wouldn’t let her go until she was his bride. In a secret wedding, he married her, and then spirited her to safety.
She arrived in her haven traumatized, fearful, homeless…and pregnant. Slowly, she rebuilt her life, gave birth to her son and somehow learned to get on with living without Zahir. For five long years, Callie recovered from the nightmare of her captivity. And she raises her son.
When Zahir enters her life once more, she can’t believe that the fire between them is hotter than before. But she refuses to give in, despite its intensity. She’s too afraid that the peace between the previously warring countries will end and that she or her son could be in peril again. She yearns to feel safe, but can she defy her heart or deny her son his father?

About the Author
Elizabeth Lennox writes contemporary romance novels featuring sheiks, business tycoons, royalty, and other sexy rich men. Her male lead characters are smart, driven and determined, but can still be sensitive and vulnerable. Elizabeth’s female lead characters come from a variety of backgrounds. They are strong, intelligent and independent, while still feminine and caring. Although she wanted to be a romance novelist since the eighth grade, that dream only became a (paid) reality for her in 2009 and a full time job in 2012. Along the way, she received a BS in History and held different jobs in the real estate, government consulting, and financial industries. All during that time, though, she was always writing, using her personal experiences, dreams, and travels throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean as backdrops for her stories. To date, she has written over seventy books and sold over one million copies. Her free novellas have been downloaded over 2.2 million times since 2013. Elizabeth lives in Virginia with her husband and two children. Their home is just outside of Washington, D.C., and many of her novels are set in this area.

Just ok
By Amazon Customer
This book was ok. The heroine was kinda whiny and weak. The hero had no consideration for her and expected after marrying her without her knowledge or consent and dropping her with zero contact for five years, that she'd just jump into being his wife. It was kind of a unbelievable story line. I mean what women after not hearing from a guy for 5 years would jump into bed with a guy. I mean even a guy she loved she'd be pissed and bitter enough to put up some fight! And why make her such a wuss? She's scared of spiders, animals, bugs, water, flying, driving, strangers, etc. couldn't she just have one phobia? It makes her very unlikable. You think "oh she's got her stuff together" in the beginning of the book only to find out he owned her apartment building. All her neighbors and maintenance guy are bodyguards. Her neighbor/friend that helps her with her son is a hired nanny. Her job is a company he bought so she could get paid a lot to do easy work. She just annoyed me.

Did not finish reading, stopped at 60% -- I don't feel love between the main characters
By VivLA
I bought this book because I really liked "The Sheik's Angry Bride" and I decided to go back and read Zahir's story. I don't care for Callie in this story. She is too negative when it comes to Zahir. She doesn't want anything to do with him, she doesn't want to go back to his country, she doesn't want him to know about his son (moot point), she doesn't want to believe they are married, she doesn't believe in the peace negotiations with his warring countries, she doesn't agree with the way he's trying to raise his son for responsibility, she is denying her attraction and her place in Zahir's life. After five years, Zahir comes to get his family to bring them back home. But I do not feel any love there, more like an obligation. All we get are references about her time in captivity, we are not told the story in that timeline, it is five years later. She is jealous of his time with his son, because now she has to share him, when it used to be only the two of them (mother and son).

but more info would've been nice. Same with Zahir and his being tortured
By Polly
Ms. E's book is delightful as always, with enough humor, romance, and dialogue to keep it interesting. The characters are well-developed and the book moves right along. I would've given Ms. E. 5 stars but there were too many unanswered questions in my mind. For example (to name a few):

1. This book picks up from the book "Dancing with the Dangerous Prince" that involved Crown Prince Zoran of Larcatia and Princess Ciara of Altair. If Sheik Zahir is now the ruler of Larcatia, what happend to Zoran and Ciara? We they exiled? Killed? All that is mentioned is that there was a "dramatic change in the leadership of the other 3 countries" and "last of the old guard died 6 months ago". I would think the parents of Zoran and Ciara might have died, but them? They were young and just beginning their married lives when the war broke out.

2. Is Zahir a younger brother of Zoran? Cousin? I'm confused.

3. The book ended upbruptly with Callie refusing to tell Zahir about her kidnapping and she finds out Zahir had been tortured, but he won't talk about that either. I guess they go merrily on their way. What really happened with Callie when she was kidnapped? She makes references to it and the reader can fill in the blanks to a certain extent, but more info would've been nice. Same with Zahir and his being tortured. It had to have impacted his life. (Although this question would've been nice to have answered it isn't vital to the story.)

4. They were separated for 5 years, we know Callie lived in Virginia, where she worked and what she did at her job. We know about Luca too, but what about Zahir? He just fought and negotiated for the whole 5 years?

I think if the book had been longer, Ms. E. would've had time to address these issues. I love her books and am so disappointed when they end. I'm just getting ready to settle down for a good read, when the book is over and I think to myself, "What? It just started."

Thanks Ms. E for another excellent read! Can't wait for the next installment.

Mr. Calder lives with a golden deerhound named Rasselas. Mr. Behrens keeps bees. No one would suspect the pair are in fact agents and often tasked with jobs that no one else can take on. They are dangerous. Their adventures in this series of thrillers show the author to have a clear grasp of counterintelligence operations.

About the Author
Born in Lincolnshire, England, Michael Francis Gilbert graduated in law from the University of London in 1937, shortly after which he first spent some time teaching at a prep-school which was followed by six years serving with the Royal Horse Artillery. During World War II he was captured following service in North Africa and Italy, and his prisoner-of-war experiences later leading to the writing of the acclaimed novel 'Death in Captivity' in 1952. After the war, Gilbert worked as a solicitor in London, but his writing continued throughout his legal career and in addition to novels he wrote stage plays and scripts for radio and television. He is, however, best remembered for his novels, which have been described as witty and meticulously-plotted espionage and police procedural thrillers, but which exemplify realism. HRF Keating stated that 'Smallbone Deceased' was amongst the 100 best crime and mystery books ever published. "The plot," wrote Keating, "is in every way as good as those of Agatha Christie at her best: as neatly dovetailed, as inherently complex yet retaining a decent credibility, and as full of cunningly-suggested red herrings." It featured Chief Inspector Hazlerigg, who went on to appear in later novels and short stories, and another series was built around Patrick Petrella, a London based police constable (later promoted) who was fluent in four languages and had a love for both poetry and fine wine. Other memorable characters around which Gilbert built stories included Calder and Behrens. They are elderly but quite amiable agents, who are nonetheless ruthless and prepared to take on tasks too much at the dirty end of the business for their younger colleagues. They are brought out of retirement periodically upon receiving a bank statement containing a code. Much of Michael Gilbert's writing was done on the train as he travelled from home to his office in London: "I always take a latish train to work," he explained in 1980, "and, of course, I go first class. I have no trouble in writing because I prepare a thorough synopsis beforehand.". After retirement from the law, however, he nevertheless continued and also reviewed for 'The Daily Telegraph', as well as editing 'The Oxford Book of Legal Anecdotes'. Gilbert was appointed CBE in 1980. Generally regarded as 'one of the elder statesmen of the British crime writing fraternity', he was a founder-member of the British Crime Writers' Association and in 1988 he was named a Grand Master by the Mys

Excellent example of british spy genre
By A Customer
This particular book is a series of short stories about a two man British espionage team around WWII. It is a wonderful introduction to Mr. Gilbert's very British and very dry style of writing while also being very exciting. The last story in the series, which involves a deerhound, is one of the best. If you can find a copy of this book, buy it

GREAT FUN--TWO ELDERLY SPIES OUT-DO THE YOUNG SPIES
By David R. Eastwood
When Michael Gilbert is at his best, few writers can equal him. In GAME WITHOUT RULES (1967), we have eleven of his highly enjoyable "spy thrillers"--all of them starring Mr. Calder and Mr. Behrens, his duo of elderly spies/counterspies. In most of these stories, our pleasure chiefly comes from seeing the intelligence and courage and quirky calmness of these two senior citizens, functioning effectively in suspenseful and dangerous situations. (I am reminded of an enjoyable 1969 film with a similar premise--THE OVER-THE-HILL GANG--about a group of elderly Texas Rangers who succeed where younger men cannot.)

In alphabetical order, here are the stories: "The Cat Cracker" (about a scientist who plans to leave Britain); "Cross-Over" (concerns an attempt to rescue a double-agent); "The Headmaster" (a Fair-Play Puzzle story about detecting who is a spy known as the Headmaster); "Heilige Nacht" (about a defector with a code machine; has a scathing scene of diplomatic incompetence and a touching scene involving the courage of one of Mr. B's friends--with a nice quotation from Schiller--this is one of my favorites in this collection); "A Prince of Abyssinia" (a touching story involving a magnificent dog that we are compelled to love--with some unpleasant elements AND a huge plot hole); "Prometheus Unbound" (a story with a surprise ending, as Mr. C. and Mr. B. re-enact Conan Doyle's "The Adventure of the Dying Detective"); "On Slay Down" (a "humorous" story about the killing of a female traitor); "The Road to Damascus" (a complex story about a Soviet spy--although it is full of plot holes and leaves loose ends, it has been anthologized many times; despite its flaws, it is very clever in many parts and very enjoyable); "The Spoilers" (Mr. C. & Mr. B. help catch a gang of renegade ex-military blackmailers; very suspenseful and fairly satisfying); "Trembling's Tours" (another complex story about Soviet spies, again full of plot holes; this story was originally published in July 1962, in ARGOSY magazine in the UK as "Fear and Trembling's," and is a rare instance of Gilbert writing a "Didactic" or "Rhetorical" work: at the end, when he and the police fail to catch one of the spies, Mr. C. concludes that government security agencies ought to cooperate with each other; almost 50 years later, this "lesson" still needs to be heeded, both in the UK and in the US); "'Upon the King ...'" (an uncharacteristic story focused on a boy, a young monarch who is returning to his country from Britain, who is kidnapped and shows more resourcefulness than Mr. C. and Mr. B. do).

Odds and Ends: one paragraph on page 174 of my (hardback) copy of this book has too many misprints to be read; despite the title GAME WITHOUT RULES, several "rules" are presented in several of these stories; insofar as the two main characters are middle-aged bachelors who never think about sex (and the male spy they work with in one story has been a virgin), the author may be deliberately setting up a contrast to Ian Fleming's James Bond thrillers.

Finally, if you enjoy these stories, the really good news is that Michael Gilbert collected 12 more in a similar book titled MR. CALDER AND MR. BEHRENS (1982).
