Not entirely helpful

The most informative part of this book was the description of it here on Amazon. If you are like me and always forgetting the exact meaning of acronyms after having several thrown at you at once, this book' s going to be useless. And I'm not a newb. I've got 7 years experience as a government procurement specialist and I had trouble keeping track of all the alphabet soup and buzz word side salad going on here. If all you want is a non-indexed list of PMP terms with bare bones definitions, this could be useful. If you were hoping for a book that would help blow the dust off you previous knowledge, not so much. If you are newb? Forget it!

This is not the book that you need for all of the basics if you have never even heard of the PMP before. But if you are like me, and have been in the business for years, then this book is the one you want to use for quick review right before the test. I also used the Bottom Line Up Front guide to help identify those areas I already knew and allow me to concentrate on the sections I was shaky on. The information is presented in a very concise format, but there are times when a to-the-point guide is much more valuable.

If I only knew then, what I know now. This past school year, I was asked to teach my fifth graders a science unit on Motion and Design. Having very little physical science content knowledge, I was uncomfortable answering any questions throughout the unit. I just wish I would have known about this book before. This book is written in an easy-to-understand and often humorous manner. Each chapter contains a simple experiment with household items followed by a straightforward explanation of the science concepts behind the experiment. I finally understand (a little bit)

I've never even come close to understanding even one of Newton's laws. I only made it through Physics in college because my brother-in-law is a science whiz, and I took the course over the internet. I am so happy to have come across this book though. For the first time in my life, I think I get it! Robertson's explanations address all of my (to what some people may believe) silly questions respectfully - as if I am the one who is logical for questioning and not grasping it! He explains the rationale behind the concepts in a humorous (sometimes laugh out loud) way - and I walked away wishing I could take a stab at that college physics class once more.

About the Author
Chris Hackley is Professor of Marketing at the School of Management, Royal Holloway University of London. His research and writing on marketing, advertising, media, education, and consumer cultural policy issues has been published in more than 100 books, research articles, and features. He has consulted with government bodies such as the Department of Health and the Cabinet Office Behavioural Insights Team on alcohol policy, and with commercial organizations such as Channel 4 Television, New Media Group, Sky Media, and The Huffington Post on product placement and native advertising.

He is a regular contributor to print and broadcast media on marketing and consumer policy topics. His TV and radio appearances include BBC Breakfast TV, Channel 4 News, ITV Tonight, BBC Radio 4 You and Yours, and BBC Radio 4 Thinking Allowed. Interesting questions, intelligently answered.

Overall, the book was excellent. Marilyn vos Savant answers various questions submitted by the public, and the book reprints articles from her column. I enjoyed the various chapters, which included categories of brain-teasers and mundane trivia. I was disappointed in her answer of why kamikaze pilots wore helmets--I expect that they wore it for similar reasons that they wore the rest of their uniform. :-) I'm still puzzling over why a 200 pound person couldn't juggle three one pound melons on a raft with a 202 pound capacity, given that juggling a single melon requires exertion of an extra pound of force--after all, when all melons are in the air, there is no force on the raft except the weight of the person, so as long as the melons remain aloft long enough for the raft to float back to equilibrium, I don't see why any number of melons couldn't be juggled. Ah well... it's good to have answers that keep me thinking. :-)

Solid exposition of Romans, but from Arminian view

In the Romans class I taught this semester, I assigned both this text and Sproul's. It turned out to be a good balance. Seemuth writes well and keeps a Holy Ghost perspective on Paul's timeless words. He forgets, though, that it's possible to be Reformed and Charismatic, and so doesn't explained the Wesleyan/Arminian view as well as he might.
